St. Vincent and the Grenadines rejects role of OAS against the region

The Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves, ratified in an exclusive interview with the international channel teleSUR, his support to the people and governments of Cuba and Venezuela in view of the constant use of the Organization of American States (OAS) as a weapon for the destabilization of countries in the region.

During his interview on "Notables," conducted by Jorge Gestoso, the Caribbean leader from St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Ralph Gonsalves also highlighted the position of the secretary of this regional organization, Luis Almagro, against the recognition of democratically elected governments in other countries such as Bolivia and Dominica.  

With respect to the situation in the country regarding the recent protests against him, Gonsalves indicated that "the opposition is desperate."  The regional leader from St. Vincent and the Grenadines underlined that they have posted fake news about the number of demonstrators against the Government.

Regarding COVID-19, Gonsalves insisted on the permanent work with the citizens and the health authorities.  "Our people have the necessary vaccines but many are afraid," he affirmed.  
However, the prime minister insisted that the Executive has had to establish persuasion mechanisms.  "We cannot make it mandatory.  They have a choice: to take the vaccine or not. Although high-risk personnel should know that if they do not get vaccinated they cannot continue in the work they perform."

Ralph Gonsalves, who is serving his fifth consecutive term as Prime Minister of St. Vincent and the Grenadines, said that despite the challenges to individualism and capitalism persist in the country, the damage caused by natural situations such as tropical storms and the eruption of the La Soufriere volcano, and now the COVID-19 pandemic, "we have been able to reduce poverty in the country."
