The UNEAC Criticism and Research Section of the Performing Arts has just released the shows to be granted the 2020-2021 Villanueva Critics Award.

In the theater for adults category, Reportaje Macbeth (directed by Raúl Martín, for Teatro de la Luna), Ubú sin cuernos (directed by Miguel Abreu, Ludi Teatro), and Luz (directed by Osvaldo Doimeadiós with Oficio de Isla. Comunidad Creativa) were all awarded.

Three dance shows were also granted the award: Séptima Sinfonía, choreographed by Uwe Scholtz with the National Ballet of Cuba; Mundo Interpretado, choreographed by Juliano Nunez for Acosta Danza, and Cascanueces, choreographed by Osnel Delgado, for Malpaso.

The section also recognized the sustained, innovative work of artists, groups and institutions in favor of the preservation and development of creative experiences, which respond to the current circumstances, and pointed out the difficulties in having access to shows performed outside of Havana, given the sanitary situation.

The Villanueva Awards granted to the best shows of 2020-2021 will be presented in March amid the celebrations for the World Theater Day.
