The search for more than 100 missing people continues in Bahía Blanca, while Argentina is living the first day of national mourning for the death of at least 16 people due to a strong storm in that territory.
Flags will remain at half-mast in public buildings for three days, after the Government of Javier Milei decreed this state of mourning due to the severe human and material damages registered in that city of the province of Buenos Aires and nearby towns.
In the publication in the Official Gazette, the Executive expressed its solidarity with the families of the victims and detailed that “the devastating consequences of the storm and floods are so serious that they also caused the need to evacuate a large number of inhabitants who lost everything”.
The events that took place caused enormous consternation in the community and in the whole country. The National Government, in coordination with the local authorities, is taking the necessary measures to assist the victims, the document states.
The governor of Buenos Aires, Axel Kicillof, said that the tragedy demonstrated the need for a present State, as opposed to Milei’s policy.
