New batches of medical, food, and school aid were delivered to several Syrian regions by the Russian armed forces, which have been operating in this Arab country since 2015, at the request of local authorities.

The Russian Coordination Center stationed at the Hemeimim airbase delivered about five tons of sugar, flour, rice, milk, pasta, juices, clothes, shoes, school and office supplies to the “Al-Masae” Charitable Society and the orphanage in the coastal Latakia province.

The Center’s representative, Colonel Yuri Vich Slavavich, told reporters that his country will continue to assist the Syrian people, especially the most vulnerable segments of society.

These initiatives are part of the Russian Federation’s most significant endeavors in support of Syria and its people in their fight against terrorism, the officer said.

Fawaz Daly, head of the “Al-Masae” Society, in turn, praised the Russian friends’ support for the Syrian people and interest in children, and highlighted the strong relations between Damascus and Moscow and their continued support.

Last week, the Russian troops handed about 300 food baskets weighing a total of three tons to the residents of Zagrin Village in Northern Latakia.
