Hundreds of people of various generations participated in the political-cultural activity for the 66th anniversary of the triumph of the Cuban Revolution, which took place at the Isidora Zegers Hall of the University of Chile.
The event, organized by the Solidarity Movement, began with a flag-waving by young people and was attended by political and social leaders, parliamentarians, members of the diplomatic corps, friends of Cuba and Cubans residing here.
The Revolution marked, with no doubt, a turning point in the history of Latin America and demonstrated that only 90 miles away from a powerful country like the United States, a small nation could obtain definitive independence, Cuban Ambassador Mercedes Vicente declared.
She recalled that almost since the triumph, her country has had to face great challenges, such as the U.S. blockade, which was accentuated with a series of measures taken by the past administration of Donald Trump.
Throughout this journey we have always counted on the solidarity of the peoples of our America and, in particular, of the Chilean people, whom we deeply admire, the diplomat said.
