Russia and Cuba reject US blockade against Havana

Moscow, Jun 9 (Prensa Latina) Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Riabkov and Cuban Ambassador Julio Garmendia on Wednesday agreed on the urgent need for an end to the United States blockade against Cuba.
 
During their meeting, both diplomats analyzed current topics on Russia-Cuba strategic association in the political, commercial and economic fields, the Foreign Ministry's office reported.

On Tuesday, the State Duma (Lower Chamber) presented a draft bill requesting that United Nations General Assembly and its member countries' parliaments support condemn Washington's economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba.

Besides, Parliament members intend to submit ¨a proposal to take concrete measures and practical actions to this end to do away with the harsh line from Washington against the sovereign State,¨ the text added.

According to the document to be presented for debate on June 15, the parliamentarians also stand for the renewing dialogue on constructive and mutual respect between Washington and Havana.

On June 2, the Russian Federation Council(Senate) approved a declaration strongly condemning the US blockade against the Caribbean island and called for international solidarity in favor of Cuba.
