Havana, March 1 (RHC)-- President Miguel Díaz-Canel ratified Cuba's commitment to confront all forms of exclusion on the occasion of the International Day for Zero Discrimination.
Cuba declares its vocation and the government's political will to vigorously confront any discriminatory expression because they are all harmful to human dignity, said the President on Twitter.
The United Nations General Assembly proclaimed March 1 as Zero Discrimination Day to promote actions that guarantee the right of every person to live a full life with dignity.
In Cuba, the 2019 Constitution recognizes the equality of all citizens and the banning of discrimination.
The Island implements the National Program against Racism and Racial Discrimination, approved by the Council of Ministers in November 2019 and executed by a Government Commission headed by the President of the Republic.
In addition, in March last year, the National Program for the Advancement of Women was approved, which has a comprehensive strategy for prevention and attention to gender violence and in the family scenario that prevents and penalizes any form of marginalization based on gender.
The Caribbean country is a signatory to more than 40 international treaties and conventions on the protection of human rights, in the light of which it is proposed to update the Family Code, which is currently under widespread consultation.
