President Miguel Díaz-Canel participated in agricultural work in the western province of Artemisa, on the occasion of the 66th anniversary of the first Voluntary Work Day in Cuba, led by the Argentine-Cuban revolutionary, Ernesto "Che" Guevara.

According to the site Presidencia de Cuba, the national productive day, which is being replicated in several territories, was convened by the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba (CTC) and its unions, under the slogan "#PorCubaJuntosCreamos" (For Cuba, Together We Create).

Work in the Fields

The Head of State took part in the planting of various crops at the Los Tamarindos Agroindustrial Company in Artemisa province, alongside his colleagues from the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CC-PCC) and the leadership of the Cuban labor movement.

According to the source, upon concluding the work in the field, the top representative of the CTC, Osnay Colina, recalled "Che," who after the triumph of the Cuban Revolution in 1959, "promoted with his example the idea that productive and creative work would be the source of wealth."

A Legacy of Solidarity

"From then on," said Colina, "we Cubans became much more Guevarist and solidary. Thanks to these work days, we built hospitals and schools, we planted and harvested, we went to the plains and the mountains, to any place where our arms were most needed."

The also member of the CC-PCC and president of the Organizing Commission for the XII Congress of the CTC urged to work on the recovery of the country's eastern region impacted by Hurricane Melissa and on the sanitization of neighborhoods and workplaces "given the national epidemiological complexity."

"To work, produce, create, and fight is the best summary of these hours," affirmed Colina, as quoted by Presidencia de Cuba.
