President Díaz-Canel congratulates laureates in Cuba

Havana, Jun 26 (Prensa Latina) The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today congratulated writers, artists, journalists and cultural and information institutions of the island, distinguished with the Replica of the Machete Mambí of Generalissimo Máximo Gómez. In his Twitter account, the president recognized the work of the winners for their commitment to the people and the Revolution of the winners of the award given by the Ministry of the Revolutionary Armed Forces.

The ceremony was held this Friday at the San Carlos de La Cabaña Fortress, in this capital, to congratulate personalities and institutions with relevant work during 2020 and 2021.

Actress Isabel Santos and actors Fernando Echevarría and Luis Rielo obtained the distinction as representatives of the performing arts; while Jorge Gómez, Elito Revé and Ernestina Trimiño were honored in music.

They also recognized poet Alex Pausides, the audiovisual producer Alberto Luberta, vocalist and tonadist Ernestina Trimiño, as well as researcher Manuel Hevia Frasquieri and the journalists Luis Toledo Sande, Elson Concepción and Oscar Sánchez Serra.

The list of winners is completed by the groups from the III Front and the Denunciation Memorial, the Round Table TV program, the Venceremos newspaper and the Los Malagones Memorial.

The Replica of the Machete Mambí of Generalissimo Máximo Gómez is awarded to writers, artists, journalists and cultural and information institutions that constitute models of the Cuban intellectual committed to his time and history.
