Havana, March 31 (RHC) --Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel thanked the Syrian ambassador to the island, Idris Mayya, for his dedication to the promotion of historical ties between the two countries.
Through his Twitter account, the president confirmed a meeting with the diplomat, who ends his mission in the Caribbean nation.
"I reiterated the will to boost relations of friendship and cooperation," he added on the social network.
On previous occasions, the governments of Cuba and Syria have ratified the positive state of political and collaborative relations.
One of the most recent pages of this cooperation occurred last February when the island donated 240 thousand doses of vaccines against Covid-19: Abdala, Soberana 02, and Soberana Plus.
In fact, the Group of Friendship with Cuba in the Syrian People's Assembly (Parliament) expressed its gratitude for the donation to that nation that has been living a war since 2011.
On August 11, 1965, both countries established diplomatic relations, which are characterized by mutual support for national causes in all international forums.
