THE PHOTO: From Breakfast to Immortality
especiales
This mining Cinderella bee (Andrena cineraria) flew like every day in search of its breakfast and found a good spot on the head of this dandelion plant.
And there she was, sucking and sucking, extremely happy with the beginning of this spring, not knowing that the lens of a persistent amateur photographer would take it to immortality.
No one knows how many millions of people have seen her because her photo won fifth place in the Insect Week Photography Awards contest.
This annual contest is sponsored by the Royal Entomological Society, founded in London in 1833, one of the oldest and also prestigious institutions dedicated to the subject of insects, their dissemination and preservation.
On this occasion, the image of the bee, along with the other winning photos, was chosen from among some 700 snapshots sent from 34 countries.
But none of that will know this bee, who seems to smile kindly from a serene room while having breakfast.
