Mexico, Mar 22 (Prensa Latina) The closure of the archaeological zone of Chichen Itza in the Mexican state of Yucatan, decreed until today, prevented the public from visiting the archaeoastronomic phenomenon of the descent of Kukulcan every equinox.
Annually, more than 45,000 people come to appreciate this spectacle of light and shadow on the steps of the castle and symbol of the descent of the Mayan god, linked to the fertilization of the earth and known as the Feathered Serpent.
Experts indicated that the beauty of the triangles of light and shadow in the north can be seen again from September 6 to 22 and during winter solstice, December 21.
As a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic, some archaeological structures were closed to the public and the National Institute of Anthropology and History decided to broadcast spring equinox ceremony on virtual platforms and from four points, including Teotihuacan.
