Washington, Nov 13 (Prensa Latina) Tropical depression number 31 of the current hurricane season is formed on Friday in the Caribbean Sea and may reach Central America as a hurricane this weekend.

According to the US Hurricane Center, the meteorological phenomenon can become a tropical storm on Friday afternoon or evening.

The tropical depression could also experience further strengthening over the weekend to turn into a hurricane as it approaches Central America, according to the meteorological center.

On Friday morning, the center of tropical depression 31 was located near latitude 14.2 North, longitude 74.3 West with movement towards the west southwest at about 11 kilometers per hour (km/h).

On Saturday, the forecasting center expects the depression to begin a shift to the west-northwest with a slightly faster travel speed and continue into the early hours of Monday.

On its planned trajectory, the system will move through the center of the Caribbean Sea for the next 24 or 48 hours to approach the coasts of Nicaragua and northeast Honduras on Sunday or Monday.
