With the return of 69 irregular migrants this Friday on a flight from Mexico, 2,112 people have been returned to Cuba so far this year, local media reported today.
The air return operation, the third one carried out by the Mexican government, handed over to Cuban authorities five minors, 46 men and 18 women, according to the digital news portal Cubadebate.
Of the total number of returnees, four of these migrants left the country illegally by sea. The rest traveled legally to countries in the area and later joined irregular routes to try to reach the U.S. border.
During 2023, 25 return operations have been carried out from countries with which Cuba has migration agreements.
