Mexico, Nov 3 (Prensa Latina) Mexico received on October 30 the doses of the CanSino vaccine to fight Covid-19 to start the Phase 3 clinical trials in which some 15,000 Mexican citizens aged 18 years or over will be vaccinated, the government announced on Tuesday.

During his morning press briefing at the National Palace, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador pointed out that the vaccine candidate was paid in advance, and reiterated that all Mexicans are going to have access to the vaccine.

CanSino is jointly produced by China and Canada, is one of the three vaccine chosen by Mexico to buy it immediately and is an opportunity to test it, Foreign Secretary Marcelo Ebrard stated.

Ebrard said that the first doses of the vaccine that will be administrated in this Phase 3 in 20 health centers in different states are already in the country, and some 15,000 Mexican volunteers are part of a universe of 40,000 people who participate from several countries to which Chile and Argentina also joined.

Marta Delgado Peralta, Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights at the Mexican Ministry of Foreign Affairs, informed that this study is the first Phase 3 clinical trial in Mexico with which the country seeks to verify the efficacy and safety of this Chinese-Canadian vaccine from CanSino Biologics Inc and to access a candidate vaccine as soon as possible.
