President Andrés Manuel López Obrador thanked the people and government of Cuba for the Cuban doctors, who also work even in the most remote villages of Mexico.

Referring to the shortage of doctors in his nation, the president said in his usual morning press conference that this was the reason why they decided to bring specialists from Cuba.

Now 700 Cuban professionals are helping us, and we are very grateful to the people and the government of that nation, “because those doctors are even in the most remote villages curing our people”, the president from the southern state of Oaxaca said.

It is likely that if we lack doctors, we will bring them from any country in the world, he added.

López Obrador mentioned the efforts made during his mandate to achieve a public health system for the benefit of the people and expressed his decision to continue working with intensity with the purpose of not lacking any medicine or specialists in the nation.

We want the hospitals to have the doctors, to guarantee what is already written in the Constitution but is not yet applied: the people’s right to health, the president said emphasizing that this is not a privilege.
