Havana, March 31 (RHC)-- Media, political forces, and civil society organizations from the Americas, Asia, and Europe will unite this weekend in a media marathon against the U.S. blockade on Cuba.

The call, launched on January 23 from the Europe for Cuba channel, already involves dozens of voices willing to denounce the economic, commercial, and financial siege imposed on the Caribbean nation in uninterrupted broadcasts that will take place for 24 hours from April 2 to 3 through traditional and alternative media, and through social media networks.

The condemnation of the blockade and the demand for its end will be echoed by television stations, radio stations, the print media, influencers and programs on social media, solidarity associations, political parties, and trade unions.

The promoters stressed that all those who have accepted the invitation to accompany Cuba in this struggle receive the same welcome, regardless of whether they are large or small, better known or lesser-known organizations.

Networks such as Telesur, HispanTV, Al Mayadeen and Cubavisión Internacional, the Prensa Latina and Sputnik news agencies and the radio stations Radio del Sur, Radio Patagonia, Radio Rebelde and Radio Habana Cuba, among others, confirmed their support.

Also, the World Federation of Trade Unions, the Latin American Network of Solidarity with Cuba, and associations supporting the island, Cuban residents, and communist parties from Argentina, Bolivia, Spain, France, Honduras, Israel, Italy, Mexico, Russia, and other countries, said yes to the media marathon.

Concerning the details of the program, organizers said the Europe for Cuba will broadcast 24 hours a day on its YouTube channel, with several guests who will explain what the blockade is, how it has been applied for more than six decades and what are its criminal consequences.

The coordinators of Europe for Cuba pointed out that once the initiative has materialized, they will study its results to promote new projects to denounce and condemn the blockade, one of the main reasons that motivated the creation of the solidarity platform in October 2020.
