Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro today decreed a state of External Commotion across the entire national territory in response to US aggression and activated defense plans to confront it.
The measure, signed and ordered by the president, is designed to protect the population, guarantee the full functioning of republican institutions, and immediately transition to armed struggle.
Maduro also indicated the immediate deployment of the Command for the Integral Defense of the Nation and the Organs of Direction for Integral Defense in all states and municipalities of the country.
"In strict adherence to Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, Venezuela reserves the right to exercise legitimate defense to protect its people, its territory, and its independence. We call upon the peoples and governments of Latin America, the Caribbean, and the world to mobilize in active solidarity against this imperial aggression," stated the Venezuelan government in a communiqué.
In the early hours of this morning, the United States bombarded military and civilian sites in Caracas and the states of Miranda, Aragua, and La Guaira.
