Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, Nov 17 (Prensa Latina) President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Thursday holds talks with representatives of Brazil's civil society and indigenous peoples within the framework of COP27, which is being held in Egypt.

Sources close to the founder of the Workers’ Party stated that Lula expects to meet with delegates of the International Indigenous Peoples Forum on Climate Change.

On Wednesday, the former unionist received in this Egyptian resort from the hands of governors of the Legal Amazon a document that defends a mutual agenda for the climate transition.

The so-called Amazon Charter, a common agenda for the climate transition, was read by Helder Barbalho, the governor of the northern Brazilian state of Pará, who invited Lula to the 27th Conference of the Parties (COP27) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Lula also stated that climate change and poverty are two inseparable realities that must be fought jointly and promised stricter punishments against those who attack the environment and the resources of the Amazon.
