The Head of State emphasised, “In order to maximise the potential of bilateral co-operation, we need to move our trade and economic ties up to the highest level of political contacts – and we will do it.”
Belarus proposes not only exports of goods and services to Cuba, but also an active participation in the development of all mutually beneficial areas and directions based on an integrated, strategic approach. The President explained, “We are ready to introduce modern scientific achievements and technologies into the Cuban economy for the successful implementation of joint projects designed for a long-term economic and, above all, social effect.”
As noted by Aleksandr Lukashenko, Belarus is already implementing projects of the kind in Cuba: in the field of industry, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and food. An assembly plant for tractors, attachments and trailed equipment has been established.
According to the Belarusian leader, a manufacturing line of a joint venture for the production of Belarusian medicines intended for sale in the Cuban domestic market and in the Caribbean is to be launched in the near future.
A number of projects dealing with the production of dairy products using Belarusian technologies and raw materials are under development. “We would like to make these high-quality, healthy products available to Cubans and residents of neighbouring regions. The development of co-operation in these areas will contribute to improving food security and the well-being of citizens of both countries," the Head of State said.
The President once again thanked his Cuban counterpart for coming to Belarus and for his invaluable personal contribution to maintaining the highest level of fraternal relations. “I want to assure you that we will certainly fulfil all the outlined plans and agreements,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.
