A considerable number of Latin American communicators will be present at the 17th International Seminar on Journalism and Tourism, to be held in Havana from June 17 to 21.

The organizing committee’s spokespeople indicated that 60 professionals, including 45 foreigners from Latin America and Canada, will attend the meeting, along with the largest delegations from Colombia, Ecuador, and Mexico.

The Cuban members of the Circle of Tourism Journalists at the Union of Cuban Journalists (UPEC) will participate with representatives nationwide.

During these days, three will be dedicated to debates and lectures with the participation of prominent speakers such as scholars from the University of Ottawa, Canada, Cuban academics Jose Luis Perello, and Pavel Pavon, Director of Technologies and Systems at the Tourism Ministry (MINTUR).

In addition to academic exchanges, participants will visit tourist attractions such as La Bodeguita del Medio and El Floridita restaurants, the Havana Club Rum Museum, the Tropicana Cabaret, and will travel to Varadero beach, in western Matanzas province.

The event is supported by the foreign hotel chains Iberostar and Melia (Spain), Blue Diamond (Canada), and the local companies Los Portales S.A., Internacional Cubana del Tabaco, Cubatur, and Havanatur.
