Moscow, Feb 21 (Prensa Latina) The Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, reported that the Kremlin is investigating whether signals about the possibility of terrorist attacks on Russian soil were received from the US intelligence services.
“I am not aware of any signal of this kind,” said the Russian official, who considered it an “unusual practice” for the Washington embassy in Moscow to issue a warning to its citizens about alleged possible terrorist attacks in Moscow, Saint Petersburg and the Russian regions bordering Ukraine.
The US embassy advised US citizens in the country to remain attentive to information from the international media, the TASS news agency reported.
It also urged them to avoid crowds, to inform their friends and relatives about their safety, to avoid contact with strangers and to “be alert in tourist areas and in places frequented by visitors from the West.”
US citizens were also called to prepare an evacuation plan “that does not involve the help of the United States Government.”
