Havana, Jun 7 (Prensa Latina) Delegates to the Ninth Congress of the National Union of Cuban Jurists (UNJC) today endorsed the declaration on the exclusion of Cuba from the Summit of the Americas.

At the inaugural gala, the attendees rejected the arrogant attitude of the U.S. government that through its unilateral policy determined the absence of the Cuban, Venezuelan and Nicaraguan delegations to that hemispheric meeting.

They also supported genuine efforts for peace, respect for diversity and solidarity throughout the continent.

Cuban jurists have been in the first line of defense of the Revolution, reaffirmed the president of the UNJC, Jose Alexis Ginarte, who pointed out that this meeting is dedicated to the imprint of the historic leader, Fidel Castro.

The fight against the blockade and the respect for institutional law are priority activities, the leader affirmed.

He thanked those professionals for their support and work together with the national health system in the most difficult moments of Covid-19.

Likewise, on behalf of the delegates from all over the country, he lamented the deaths caused by the pandemic and, more recently, the 46 deaths following the accident at the Saratoga Hotel in Havana.

The challenges are not few, he said, and stressed that the people expect and need the support of the jurists.

Meanwhile, Leonardo Perez, professor of the Law School of the University of Havana, confirmed that the Cuban jurists will continue to support the training of new law professionals based on what the legal standard imposes.
