Tokyo, May 23 (Prensa Latina) Japan's Emperor Naruhito on Monday received in Tokyo US President Joe Biden, who is making an official visit to the Asian nation.

The protocol meeting at the Imperial Palace became the first of its kind since 2013, when Naruhito was crown prince and Biden was serving as vice president under the administration of then US President Barack Obama, the Imperial Household Agency reported.

Following the meeting with the emperor, Biden moved to the State Guest House in Tokyo, to hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

The US president arrived in Tokyo on Sunday evening from South Korea.

As part of his work agenda in Tokyo, Biden will participate this Tuesday in the third summit of the Quad or Quadrilateral Security Dialogue, composed of the United States, Japan, India and Australia.

One of the main objectives of the Biden’s first tour of Asia is the launch of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework.
