Ivan Melnikov met with parliamentarians from Cuba

On September 21, 2024, on behalf of the Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin, the First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Ivan Melnikov held a meeting with the Cuban parliamentary delegation headed by the Vice-President of the National Assembly of People's Power and the State Council of the Republic of Cuba, Co-Chair of the Commission on Cooperation between the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National Assembly of People's Power of the Republic of Cuba, Ana María Mari Machado.

Certain aspects of Russian-Cuban interstate relations with special attention to the inter-parliamentary ties were discussed at the meeting. In particular, the meeting participants analyzed the progress of the parliamentary cooperation program between the State Duma and the National Assembly of People's Power of the Republic of Cuba. The participants noted the effectiveness of the six working groups created within the Commission. The parties determined an algorithm for further inter-parliamentary cooperation, including in terms of clarifying the time and format of the next meeting.

Cuban parliamentarians shared their impressions of their participation in the Eurasian Women's Forum, which was held in St. Petersburg, and expressed their appreciation for this international event.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs Dmitry Novikov and Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to the Russian Federation Julio Antonio Garmendia Peña attended the meeting.
