Tehran, Nov 15 (Prensa Latina) Iran maintains and will maintain its demand for the total abolition of sanctions during the dialogue on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or "nuclear agreement", as Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh reaffirmed.

The approach of Iranian negotiators, he said, contemplates demanding the lifting of all illegal sanctions imposed by the United States.

Tehran’s position on the resumption of talks with the JCPOA signatories is clear: oppressive measures must disappear effectively, with verification and guarantees, he stressed.

The talks are scheduled to resume after a five-month hiatus on next November 29th in Vienna.

Until last June, both parties held six rounds aimed at finding out how the United States returns to the talks, after abandoning them in 2018.

In the words of Khatibzadeh, it is important for Iran that if Washington wants to return to the JCPOA, it must prove it with the removal of sanctions to Iran.

Khatibzadeh announced the invitation issued to Rafael Grossi, head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and who plans to meet with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and Mohammad Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, for a visit to Iran.
