Tehran, Mar 15 (Prensa Latina) Iran on Monday denied claims about involvement in attacks against US interests in Iraq, in a letter sent to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
Tehran rejects any direct or indirect action in the recent bombings against the US military airbase in Ain al-Asad, in Iraqi territory, states the document signed by Iran's United Nations Ambassador Majid Takht-Ravanchi.
On March 3, a rocket hit the US airbase in Iraq's western Al Anbar province, as a result of which a US contractor died, and Washington affirmed that Iranian-backed groups conducted the attack.
Takht-Ravanchi also condemned the February 25 US airstrikes against Iraqi forces along the Syrian border, which he described as those attacks violate international law.
In any case, the letter adds, such attacks only aggravate the situation and favor the terrorist groups in those countries.
