India sends humanitarian assistance to Myanmar

India today sent a first batch of 15 tons of urgent humanitarian aid to Myanmar to support relief operations following the devastating earthquake that hit the country the day before.
The shipment included relief materials such as tents, blankets, sleeping bags, food packets, hygiene kits, generators and essential medicines, according to official sources.
It also contains essential medical supplies such as antibiotics, syringes, gloves and bandages to support care for the wounded who sums up more than 400 according to Myanmar sources.
In a social media post, Foreign Minister Subrahmanyan Jaishankar said that a search and rescue team and a medical one also arrived in the affected areas.
He assured that the government will continue to monitor the evolution of the events and that more aid will be sent.
The day before, the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, expressed his concern about the devastating earthquakes that hit Myanmar and Thailand and assured the support of the nation to those countries.
In a message on X, the Indian head of government informed about his request to the authorities is to be alert and to be in permanent contact with the governments of Naypidó and Bangkok.
