Hungary sets expectations on Havana International Fair

Havana, September 12 (RHC)-- The Hungarian ambassador to Cuba, Balázs Heincz, says his country sees an opportunity in the 38th edition of the Havana International Fair (FIHAV) to establish more significant bilateral ties.

The event is scheduled for November 14 through 18th.

In an exclusive interview with Prensa Latina, the diplomat highlighted that a high-ranking delegation from the European nation will participate in the well-known exhibition, with representatives from the Foreign Affairs and Trade portfolios.

The ambassador stressed that a dozen Hungarian companies will also be part of the visiting commission, a number that tends to grow, to evaluate possible cooperation and business agreements.

He pointed out that the Fair will be an auspicious moment for realizing more collaborative links in water management, agriculture, and biotechnology.

From his perspective, “Cuba has been working for decades in biotechnology, and we want to use part of that experience.”

Also, he said that the island could benefit from Hungary’s technology and know-how in water management and agriculture and advance the production of food staples such as chicken and pork.

The diplomat recalled that during the “Budapest Planet 2021 Sustainability Exhibition and Summit” event, the president of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources of the Caribbean country signed a memorandum of understanding for joint work with authorities in the field in Hungary.

He added that two projects are underway in that area in the Cuban provinces of Cienfuegos and Villa Clara.

Heincz highlighted that in the post-Covid-19 world, there are multiple potentialities that both nations can exploit for the common benefit.

The ambassador issued these statements during the presentation of a donation consisting of rapid antigen tests and 15 MP-80 docking stations for infusion pumps to help to combat this disease on the island.
