promote bilateral ties.”

The Vice President of the Parliament of Hungary, Lajos Oláh, advocated for the development of links with Cuba, according to a notification from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released this Tuesday in Havana.

According to the text published on www.cubaminrex.cu, Oláh expressed his position during an official meeting with the Cuban ambassador in Budapest, Guillermo Vázquez, at the Hungarian legislative headquarters.
The exchange “took place in a cordial and friendly atmosphere,” the statement specifies, and indicates that the member of the Democratic Coalition Party also recommended promoting relations in different sectors and declared his commitment to supporting relevant initiatives.

Regarding this matter, “they exchanged views on various topics with the aim of identifying lines of action for the benefit of bilateral ties based on mutual interests.”

The information further elaborates that the parliamentarian from the Central European country “expressed his satisfaction at having visited Cuba on different occasions and retaining a pleasant memory of his stay.”

“At the same time, he expressed his satisfaction with the meeting and the information received,” adds the communication. For his part, the ambassador “provided an update” about his country and “the damages caused by the economic, financial, and commercial blockade by the U.S. government and the inclusion of Cuba in the spurious List of State Sponsors of Terrorism.”
He also thanked Oláh for the reception and “his commitment to support in everything necessary to promote bilateral ties.”
