Havana, May 27 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel called here on Friday for a change in the rules of hemispheric relations, at the inaguration of the 21st ALBA-TCP Summit.

Diaz-Canel said that the United States uses the Pan-American system as an instrument of domination and assumes the role of arbiter of democracy.

In this regard, in his speech at the meeting of the Bolivarian Alliance of Our America-People’s Trade Agreement (ALBA-TCP), he rejected the policy of exclusion enforced by Washington in view of the 9th Summit of the Americas, scheduled for next month in Los Angeles.

He described Washington’s exclusion of Cuba, Venezuela and Nicaragua from that forum as a historic setback, and stressed that it harms the sovereignty of nations.

Diaz-Canel evoked the positions defended by then President Raul Castro at the 7th Summit of the Americas held in Panama.

At the time, Raul Castro stressed that the creation of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) showed that the region can move towards unity and the achievement of common goals within the framework of diversity.

The same happened with the proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace, adopted in Havana in 2014, during the 2nd Celac Summit, Diaz-Canel stressed.
