The French association Cuba Linda today reiterated its solidarity with the Caribbean island and its condemnation of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on it by the United States, a siege that denounced as an act of war.

Regarding the holding of its general assembly, the organization created in 1998 to seek a rapprochement between Cuba and France rejected Washington's aggressive policy and the difficulties it creates for the people of the Antillean nation.

In particular, it denounced in the final statement of the meeting the impact of the U.S. blockade in key areas such as energy, health and food.

It also demanded that the United States abandon its destabilizing actions and interference in Cuba's internal affairs, and the return of territory occupied by a naval base in eastern Guantanamo province.

Cuba Linda also demanded the exit of the island from the unilateral list of countries that Washington considers sponsors of terrorism, which he called shameful.

The final declaration of the General Assembly expresses pride in the recent decoration in Havana to the president of the association, Didier Lalande, with the Medal of Friendship awarded by the largest of the Antilles.

For us, this recognition embodies years of commitment, struggle and solidarity with Cuba, reflects the text.

The meeting was attended by the second head of the island's Diplomatic Mission in France, Justo Rodriguez, who shared details about the Cuban reality and thanked the organization's support that each year leads dozens of French people to meet the Caribbean country, its history, its causes and its people.
