Paris, Dec 12 (PL) The French association Montpellier Cuba Solidarité reiterated Monday its support to the archipelago after a year of activities that included donations and accompanying working delegations from the Caribbean country in that southern territory.
We are a small and modest organization, but very proud of its work in support of the Cuban people, president Jean-Michel Gramond told Prensa Latina.
At the end of 2021, the association sent a container with medical equipment and materials, among them 21 electric beds, 12 tables for medical examination, 16 wheelchairs, two stretchers, rehabilitation equipment, and 16 thousand sanitary masks.
Last March we dispatched another container, this one with office materials, once again with the support of the city of Montpellier, with whose authorities we have good relations, said Gramond.
In September, Montpellier Cuba Solidarité participated in the traditional Fair of Associations of the city located in the department of Hérault, where it exposed the reality of the island being subjected to the economic, commercial, and financial blockade imposed by the United States for more than six decades.
He also received about twenty Cuban teachers of French who stayed at the Faculty of Education, as well as Ambassador Otto Vaillant, who thanked the organization for its support of the Island.
According to the president of the association, other important moments of 2022 were the reception of delegations from the Soil Institute, headed by its director, Luis Gómez, and from the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, led by its vice-president, Javier Toledo.
Both Gómez and Toledo shared experiences on their country's work in their respective sectors and discussed cooperation possibilities with local entities.
Another of the activities in which Montpellier Cuba Solidarité is engaged is the support to Televisión Serrana, a project established in the Sierra Maestra, in the eastern part of the island.
Gramond insisted on the modest character of the solidarity organization's support of Cuba and the pride of its members for being part of the struggles of a people that resists and creates.
