Havana, March 2 (RHC)-- The Telégrafo Axel Hotel, the first LGBTIQ hotel in Havana, opened its doors to be managed by the Spanish chain Axel Hotels through a contract with the Gaviota Group.

The opening of the 63-room facility is part of the post-Covid-19 return to normality of tourism on the island, which resumed operations last November 15, given the progress and effectiveness of the mass immunization of the Cuban population with its vaccines.

Axel Hotels puts the brand, positioning, operational management, and market knowledge as a specialist in the LGBTIQ market. It already has ten establishments in Spain, Germany, the United States, and, now, Cuba.

Since the opening, on the eve of the event, the company estimates an annual occupancy rate of 44.75 percent and more than one million dollars in revenues.

According to the specialized site hosteltur.com, its executives are confident that Cuba and the city of Havana will gradually recover tourist activity, like other world destinations, so that by the last quarter of the year, they expect a 60 percent occupancy rate.

The Telégrafo Axel Hotel La Habana is located in the historic Telégrafo Hotel, the oldest in the country, inaugurated in 1860, and is very close to Cuba's National Capitol (today the seat of Parliament), the National Museum of Fine Arts, and the Museum of the Revolution.
