Havana, Sep 15 (Prensa Latina) The new Family Code represents the society in today's Cuba, Anielka Fernandez, member of the National Secretariat of the Cuban Women's Federation (FMC), reaffirmed.

In statements to Prensa Latina, Fernandez said that for the work on this legislative regulation, the organization established an action plan divided into two parts: the first one, dedicated to the popular consultation and the second one, which is currently being developed in communities.

She affirmed that FMC members and the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) are checking and organizing the lists to carry out the September 25 referendum.

She added that leaders of the FMC and the National Association of Cuban Lawyers are touring the country’s provinces to exchange with religious leaders, housewives, and unemployed women.

Fernandez, who is also in charge of women’s promotion and care to families from the FMC, explained that in these exchanges, the specialists clarify terms and explain why voting for this Law, approved by the National Assembly in July, is important.

She urged us to vote responsibly and pointed out that “we owe this Code to Vilma Espín, the eternal president of the FMC, as well as all the knowledge of our women, who will vote for the present and future of the Cuban families on September 25.”
