Expocuba exhibition hall reaches its 36th anniversary

The largest exhibition center in the country, EXPOCUBA, celebrates today its 36th anniversary.
It was inaugurated on January 4, 1989, materializing an initiative of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.
The center, located approximately 25 kilometers south of the city center, serves as a permanent exhibition of the Republic of Cuba, showcasing the nation's economic, social, and scientific achievements. It has also become a regular venue for the annual Havana Fair, as well as other significant events of national and international significance.
EXPOCUBA also hosts a cultural day annually, during which artists and groups from various regions of Cuba are showcased.
Fidel Castro's vision was to create a large recreational and cultural hub for the enjoyment of the public, situated in the area of Lenin Park and the National Botanical Garden, located in the municipality of Arroyo Naranjo in Havana.
According to witnesses and builders, the then head of state regularly visited the construction site and provided guidance for its successful completion. After its inauguration, there were approximately thirty visits recorded, many of which were in the company of other presidents and world personalities.
