Echoes of Piña Colada: David Blanco Always Wants to Return
especiales
This man is pure energy, says a friend of the many I "met" in the 19th edition of the Piña Colada Festival that ended last Sunday in the central province of Ciego de Ávila. She was referring to David Blanco, a musician who, I answered, "he has the power of youth."
He just got on central stage located in Plaza Máximo Gómez of the provincial capital and nobody stopped moving, jumping, rocking and singing songs from now and before, it was his second presentation, after a concert he described as " marvelous", in the Patio de ARTEX.
"I really wanted to come here," David confessed in exclusive statements to CubaSi and explained his reasons: "it's a festival where friends get together, we meet the usual audience, we already have it in red letter sin our agenda every year, I hope they always invite me".
In this summer edition of the most important event in the center of the island, David Blanco and his band were presenting songs from the Modern Feudalism project, "which just came out, happy that recently it won the Cubadisco Award for the best pop-rock album of the year".
The show which my friend and I enjoyed had already been anticipated by him who proposed it as a night for the public and only for the public, with songs from the best known of his repertoire and other newer ones that he put to the consideration of the people Ciego de Avila.
On the peculiarities that distinguish the Festival chaired by Arnaldo Rodríguez, born in Ceballos, David Blanco said:
"The fact that it's fusion music or alternative music, whatever you want to call it, I already think that's peculiar. It seems to me that fusion is what has characterized Cubans since the Spaniards arrived in Cuba, from then on we have been a mixture of cultures, races, music, art in general and what fusion does is that young people get to know what was before and where we come from...
Besides, he insisted that "it brings together friends that sometimes we don’t see for months, even in Havana we don’t do these things. So hopefully it always stays. These are difficult times for Cubans, for the entire world, the world is in a chaotic state, but the music helps people stay hopeful, stay relaxed."
