Eastern Cuba's Tourism Facilities Show Vitality in Recovery

The majority of facilities operated by the Cubanacán group in Camagüey, Holguín, and Santiago de Cuba are currently servicing international clients. Efforts continue to restore the hotel infrastructure in the territories of Granma and Las Tunas.
Specialists from this tourism entity reported via digital social networks that Cubanacán's properties did not suffer serious damage from Hurricane Melissa's passage through the country's eastern provinces. To support the recovery process, workers from Pinar del Río, Artemisa, Trinidad, and Varadero have been deployed to the region.
A report published in Sol de Cuba, a magazine of the Ministry of Tourism (Mintur), cited Gihana Galindo Enríquez, the ministry's advisor in Canada, stating that tourist operations to the province of Holguín resumed this Wednesday. The resumption was marked by the first Air Transat flight carrying vacationers from that North American nation.
The Canadian market shows a preference for resorts near Guardalavaca, Esmeralda, and Pesquero beaches in Holguín, which they choose for swimming, diving, or simply enjoying the sun.
Yamiry Aldama Valdés, Deputy Minister of Mintur, last Wednesday acknowledged the critical role of tourism sector workers in the wake of Hurricane Melissa. She praised their sense of belonging, commitment, and solidarity in the face of the extreme situation.
The executive informed that the tourism recovery is underway and announced that by the upcoming November 10th, the sector will be ready to face the approaching winter season. Some hotels, such as the Meliá Santiago, have remained operational, while repairs are prioritized at hotels designated for international tourism.
