Dominican Republic closes week 2 of VNL in four-set loss to Türkiye

 The Dominican Republic closed the second week of the Volleyball Nations League falling to Türkiye 1-3 (23-25, 19-25, 25-23, 20-25)  on Sunday in Hong Kong, China.

The Turks completely outblocked the Dominicans with 16 kill blocks against three. Gaila Gonzalez scored 17 times for Dominican Republic, alongside Jineiry Martinez (16 points) and Yonkaira Peña (13 points).

Dominicans win-loss dropped to 3-5 and they stand 11th on seven points.

In the final week of the VNL 2023 Preliminary Phase, from June 27- July 2 Dominican Republic will travel to Suwon, Korea where they’ll face the host country, Germany, China and Serbia.
