Dominican news outlets highlighted Tuesday the official visit to Cuba by Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Alvarez to meet with President Miguel Diaz-Canel, to whom Dominican President Luis Abinader sent greetings and a hug.
“Acento” daily reported that Diaz-Canel and Alvarez urged in Havana for the strengthening of bilateral relations between both nations.
Acento cited a press release from the Cuban Foreign Ministry, which states that Alvarez held a meeting with Cuban Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Josefina Vidal, in which they talked about exploring new areas of economic and commercial exchange.
The daily further indicated that Vidal thanked Dominican Republic for backing the Resolution showed by Cuba at the UN General Assembly condemning the US blockade against the country.
“Dominican Foreign Minister travels to Cuba for round of negotiations,” Diario Libre headlined, and noted that Alvarez is in Havana to participate in the 12th Round of Talks on Migratory Issues between the two countries, to be held on Tuesday to guarantee regular, orderly and safe migration.
