The Minister of Interior, Justice, and Peace of Venezuela, Diosdado Cabello, condemned this Saturday the US airstrikes against his country and emphasized that the civic-military union is deployed to guarantee the safeguarding of the territory.

"I call for calm from our people. Trust in the leadership, in the command of the high political and military leadership for the situation we are going through. Much calm, let no one fall into despair to make things easier for the invading, terrorist enemy that attacked us so cowardly," said Cabello in a message broadcast by VTV.

In that vein, he recalled that this "is not the first struggle" the Venezuelan people have faced, but that the nation has "known how to survive" all those circumstances. "Here there is an organized people, who know what they have to do," he affirmed.

On the other hand, he called on international organizations to speak out regarding the US military aggression against the South American country: "Will they be accomplices to that massacre? It is a call only to reflection," he said.

Nevertheless, he stressed that despite the airstrikes carried out with missiles and bombs against public installations and civilian areas, "the country is in complete calm." "Venezuela knows it has been aggressed, this people know what they have to do," he insisted.

"They perpetrated a treacherous, vile attack against a people who were sleeping. They attacked this country cowardly. I call on political organizations for all of us to speak out and remain alert. Let us not fall into despair," he concluded.

Abduction of President Maduro

US President Donald Trump informed this Saturday that his country had "successfully carried out a large-scale attack against Venezuela" and detained President Nicolás Maduro, along with his wife, Cilia Flores.

"He has been captured and transported out of the country," wrote the US leader on Truth Social.

Minutes later, Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodríguez demanded the US government provide "immediate proof of life" for Maduro and Flores, after confirming the killing of soldiers and civilians during the military operation, which carried out bombings against the city of Caracas and three other states in the country.
