One month after the Twelfth Congress of the Union of Young Communists concluded, where the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, invited the leadership of the organization to bring together young scientists and innovators to create spaces that allow ideas to be socialized in search of solutions, this Tuesday the Youth Innovation Committee was established.

After officially creating it, its 21 members - at the Neuroscience Center - held a meeting with the Cuban president, who spoke extensively with the members of this Committee whose functions are to promote participation in the solution of problems that affect to the country and influence the development of youth populations.

Why aren't agricultural sciences developed more in a country with the agricultural characteristics of Cuba? was the question of a young scientist from Pinar del Río that motivated the President's reflections.

The Head of State considered that, certainly, this is one of the fundamental issues that the Innovation Committee must evaluate, "a space that is responsible for analyzing the problems of science from the perspectives of young people."

Cienfuegos producer Ariel Pérez Bonilla pointed out that “today our people need greater yields from our fields; and at the same time, agriculture in these times needs more science to be applied.   For her part, Karen Urrutia Pérez, researcher at the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, stressed that "this meeting is a sign of the importance that the Government gives to the opinions of youth."

In this exchange of young scientists and innovators from the country, they talked about agriculture, health, biotechnology, commerce, education... various sectors of the country's society and economy.

"At the close of the day, where each word was said with knowledge, dedication and passion," the Cuban President assured that young people are the standard bearers of science and innovation in Cuba;  He recalled that our Island has overcome the obstacles of the blockade with the talent of its scientists and innovators; He confirmed that everything we have achieved in science, in constant improvement, we owe to Fidel's visionary thought; He stated that this meeting was necessary and will be held systematically, because, definitively, with the contribution of young and committed science the country will be able to advance.

«I am convinced that, with young science, with young scientists, with committed people like you, who are young people who live under a tightened blockade, who have lived through very difficult and complex years of the revolutionary process; and that they have found from their professional preparation and from their vision of science and their contribution, a life project that matches personal aspiration with social aspiration, these are essentials for the country to move forward," reflected the president. In that sense, Díaz-Canel invited them to "work together on the priorities that the country has."

This recently created Youth Innovation Committee, chaired by the highest leadership of the National Committee of the Union of Young Communists and coordinated by the National President of the Youth Technical Brigades, is made up of young people with extraordinary results in science, technology and innovation activity. of the Central State Administration Agencies.
