Havana, May 30 (Prensa Latina) Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel said on Tuesday that he was happy to follow the news about the meeting between the presidents of Venezuela and Brazil, Nicolas Maduro and Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, respectively.

“This news illuminates the political horizon of Our America. Congratulations from Cuba,” the head of State wrote on his Twitter account.

Maduro considered the meeting with his Brazilian counterpart to be historic, transcendental and a victory for the dignity of our peoples.

On his Twitter, the Venezuelan president noted that the rescue and revitalization of unity between Brazil and Venezuela, “is the correct path that will lead us to the development and integration of the Great Homeland.”

Lula, in turn, noted that it is difficult to conceive that so many years have gone by without dialogue with authorities from Venezuela, a country with which Brazil shares a long 2,200-kilometer-long border.

Maduro’s last visit to Brazil was in 2015, when attended the inauguration for a second term of President Dilma Rousseff (2011-2016).

The leaders agreed that the meeting opens a new era of relations and builds a new work map that covers all areas.

Maduro traveled to Brasilia on an official visit to consolidate the ties of cooperation and brotherhood between the two countries, as part of the process to reestablish diplomatic ties, and to participate on Tuesday in the meeting of South American leaders called by Lula.
