President Miguel Diaz-Canel thanked his Mexican counterpart, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, for his support and reaffirmed his willingness to continue strengthening bilateral relations during the next term of President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum.

In a phone call with my dear friend @lopezobrador, I expressed my congratulations on the recent election victory. I thanked him for his constant support to #Cuba and reaffirmed the willingness to continue deepening the historic bilateral relations with the next president of #Mexico, Diaz-Canel wrote on his X profile.

During the term of President Lopez Obrador, relations between Cuba and Mexico have been characterized by their warmth and have strengthened in the most diverse areas of cooperation.

On June 3, President Diaz-Canel also spoke by telephone with Mexico’s President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum, whom he congratulated on her victory in the federal elections.

As President Lopez Obrador’s successor, Sheinbaum confirmed the willingness to move forward in areas of mutual interest for bilateral relations. “Mexico and Cuba are sister nations united by bonds of cooperation, solidarity, and shared history.”

With an extraordinary endorsement as a scientist and politician, Sheinbaum, who will take office on October 1, expressed her responsibility to President Lopez Obrador’s legacy and promised the people of Mexico to govern with humility and responsibility.
