Diaz-Canel reaffirms Cuba's resistance to US blockade

The Trading with the Enemy Act of 1917 is one of the regulations that support the economic, commercial and financial blockade maintained by the United States over Cuba for almost six decades.
Trump decided last Wednesday to extend the validity of the Act for Cuba for another year, due to 'national interest of the United States', according to the statement.
In addition, Trump expanded his powers to have greater freedom of action in terms of compliance with sanctions and regarding the issuance of permits for individual transactions.
The Trading with the Enemy Act has been renewed year after year, after President John Kennedy resorted to it in 1962 to impose restrictions on Cuba, with the purpose of creating a complex economic situation that would reduce support for the revolutionary government.
