Havana, Feb 18 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Thursday evoked the song 'Pequeña serenata diurnal' (Little Daytime Serenade) by troubadour Silvio Rodriguez, as an affirmation of the concepts of homeland and freedom bequeathed by the leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro.

On Twitter, Diaz-Canel assured that this is how the Homeland is sung, and shared the song's excerpt that assures, 'I live in a free country, which can only be free, in this land, at this moment, and I am happy because I am a giant.'

The statement is a response to the recently released video clip 'Patria y vida' (Homeland and Life) that attempts to destabilize the internal order in Cuba, in the voices of Yotuel Romero, Descemer Bueno, El Obsorbo and El Funky, and the duo Gente de Zona.

In that sense, the director of the National Library of Cuba Omar Valiño stressed the importance of this soundtrack composed by Rodriguez, and pointed out – on Twitter - 'the Homeland requires sacrifices. It is an altar and not a pedestal.'

Likewise, Cuba's Minister of Culture Alpidio Alonso Grau expressed his position to the recent strategy noting that 'when there are many men without decorum, there are always others who have in themselves the decorum of many men. There's no giving up here! Long live Cuba! Homeland or Death!'

In addition, the coordinator of the Committees for the Defense of the Revolution Gerardo Hernandez emphasized the lack of novelty of such a hoax, 'Do not be surprised at anything... There are people for whom the homeland is the place where they are paid the most. They will always be willing to live on it, never to die for it.'
