Diaz-Canel participates in PCC assembly in Guantanamo

Guantanamo, Cuba, Apr 7 (Prensa Latina) The first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel, is chairing on Thursday the PCC assessment assembly in Guantanamo, Cuba's easternmost province, with the participation of 150 delegates.
In his speech, Diaz-Canel, who is also the president of the Republic, spoke about the tradition of cacao and coconut processing in this region, where the government has heavily invested in two production plants in the city of Baracoa, where new technologies have been installed.
In this regard, Diaz-Canel insisted that in order to achieve higher returns in those sectors, it is necessary to implement strategies to add value to productions, boost exports and reduce imports based on the installed capacities.
Precisely, one of the aspects underscored in the main report presented at the assembly was the certification of the exporting poles, where the the Beneficiadora de Cafe Asdrubal Lopez, Agroforestry and Coco Baracoa enterprises operate.
The PCC leader reflected on the importance and urgency of diversifying production to be more prepared to deal with climate or other phenomena such as drought.
Thereon, the Presidency posted on Twitter Diaz-Canel’s appeal to be innovative and defend structures such as cooperatives, where individual and collective interests are interwoven.
It also tweeted that the head of State urged to take action against the United States blockade. “We must work hard to keep moving forward and share and defend the concept of creative resistance.”
