Diaz-Canel mourns Cuban intellectual’s death
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Saturday mourned the death of Jorge Lozano, a renowned scholar who studied National Hero Jose Marti's life and work.
In his message, the president described the intellectual as a passionate expert on Jose Marti’s work and a great human being.
“We met when we were members of the Young Communist League and since then I have learned to admire him. I extend my condolences and regards to his family,” Diaz-Canel tweeted.
On Friday, the Marti Program’s Office reported the sudden death of Lozano, who was considered a key figure in that institution and the Jose Marti Cultural Society, a devoted student of Cuba’s national hero and a tireless missionary to spread of Marti’s thought.
