Díaz-Canel highlights the work of Cuban doctors in Dominica

Havana, October 5 (RHC)-- Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel highlighted the solidarity work of the members of the Cuban medical brigade that served for six months in the Commonwealth of Dominica in the battle against COVID-19 -- and now returned home.

"With their excellent work they have shown the strength of our solidarity convictions," said the Cuban leader when he welcomed them via video-conference.

The group, made up of 35 health specialists from the internationalist Henry Reeve contingent, assisted 4,627 patients, saved 52 lives and performed 23,997 nursing procedures.

These professionals, of whom 14 are women and 21 are men, have more than 10 years of work experience, and represent 13 provinces of the country.

Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, 52 Cuban brigades have collaborated with efforts of 39 countries to contain the virus and save lives, and currently 43 of them are active in 33 nations.

Numerous organizations and personalities from all over the world are promoting the nomination of this International Medical Contingent Specialized in Disaster Situations and Serious Epidemics for the Nobel Peace Prize.
