Díaz-Canel Highlights Importance of Education for Cuba

The President of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, highlighted the importance of education for the continuity of the Revolution, when speaking at the closing of the National Seminar for Preparation of the 2023-2024 school year.

The Head of State described the meeting as contributing and participatory, while reflecting that developing the next school period in the scheduled time will be a great challenge and a strength.

"Let's make a new challenging academic course, in the development of education let's also put our hands and hearts," said Díaz-Canel.

As reported by the Presidency of the Republic on Twitter, the president made reference to the preparation of teachers for the transformation of education, the defense of ethics and values, called for critical analysis of current methods, as well as analyzed the role of science and innovation, demand and rigor in the teaching process.

He pointed out that the Cuban Revolution has managed to provide a good education for everyone, "but we still have our concern to keep doing it with much better quality," he said.

During the closing of the event, in which the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, also participated, the head of Education, Naima Trujillo, reflected on the results of the seminar, in which issues related to teaching and its current challenges were discussed.
